How do you install a shift knob?

Installation is easy! It typically takes just a few minutes with basic tools.

Most of our shift knobs include a threaded M16 x 1.5 installed machined metal insert. But depending on your make and model your knob may require an adapter.

  1. Remove the existing knob (unscrew or pull off).
  2. Identify thread size. Purchase OEM adapter set if needed.
  3. Install the correct adapter if needed.
  4. Securely thread on the new knob.

Note: You can use some Loctite or a spray of silicone on the threads of the insert before installation for a budge-free smooth shifting experience.

Using a universal adapter?

Follow these simple steps for installation:

  1. Choose the correct size sleeve for your arm. This DIY adapter comes with 3 different size spacer sleeves.
  2. Place universal adapter onto sleeve and secure using set screws.
  3. You can then screw on any common M16 x 1.5 shift knob.

Does your knob have no pre-drilled hole?

Follow these simple steps for installation:

  1. Drill a hole into the shift knob to the appropriate diameter for your insert.
  2. Apply adhesive evenly around the outer edge of the drilled hole.
  3. Carefully tap the insert into place until fully seated.
  4. Thread the completed knob onto the shift arm and tighten securely.
